This is my first attempt at a photoblog. I have been doing self-taught photography for most of my life. I hope you like this effort. Please click on the photos for enlargements. "If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine"

It looks like a plane with a full pink skirt on it.
This picture reminds me of the movie "Always". If you haven't seen it, rent it and watch it with Sweetie because it is a romantic comedy with Richard Dreyfuss, Holly Hunter and John Goodman. Plus it deals with fire and water bombers, too. (See, a little something for everybody.)

Wow. I'll bet that was awesome to watch.

(Raising my hand from the back of the class) Okay, I have questions. What is the orange stuff inside the pink smoke that looks like fire? How do they know where to drop this stuff because, it looks like the burning boat is not where the "stuff" is and is it okay if this gets in the water. And what if it gets on those people? That's it. For now.

First things first - Yes I did see the movie always (it was based on the ealrier movie "A Guy Named Joe". Great movie.
Secondly - the entire air show is awesome to watch. Regrettably, there have been a number of fatalities at the show over the past decades and it has lost some lustre as a result.
Third - the fire supressant is red (so they can see where they dropped it on land) and I think it's just the light shining through. They drop the stuff early so that it drifts onto the target. It is water-soluble and doesn't harm the water or the people - who were well out of the way.
Hope that clears things up.

Spelling corrections:
"always" should read "Always";
"ealrier" should read "earlier".
Since AM said it was a class, I had to spell correctly.
Thanx.

Thank you Professor F-Stop. Will the part about the movie be on the quiz?

There will be a 25 multiple-choice quiz and a short essay at the end of the session. The quiz will be based on aerodynamics/principles of flight and guessing the substance(s) used on movie theatre popcorn.

I really wanted to stop but "guessing the substances used on movie theater popcorn" - that is funny! Will club soda remove coffee from a computer keyboard?

I've seen the movie enough times. I may ace it! Sorry AM, I may just throw the curve...
Plus I used to work in a theatre, so I know what they put on the popcorn!!
